据美国有线电视新闻网（CNN）报道 ， 当地时间7月28日 ， 美国疾控中心主任美国疾病控制与预防中心主任罗伯特·雷德菲尔德 ， 在接受美国广播公司新闻采访时首次承认 ， 美国对来自欧洲的新冠病毒威胁认识缓慢 。
The United States was slow in recognizing the coronavirus threat from Europe, Dr. Robert Redfield, the director of the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, admitted for the first time Tuesday in an interview with ABC News.

雷德菲尔德称欧洲新冠病毒流入美国 ， 是在美国意识到问题出现之前发生的 。
"The introduction from Europe happened before we realized what was happening," Redfield said.
“到美国政府意识到这种威胁并对欧洲发布旅行禁令时 ， 可能已经有两至三个星期内每天60000人从欧洲地区到美国 ， 这种情况成为导致美国疫情暴发的主要因素 。 ”
"By the time we realized (the) Europe threat and shut down travel to Europe, there was probably already two or three weeks of 60,000 people coming back every day from Europe," he added."That's where the large seeding came in the Unites States."
雷德菲尔德还承认 ， 联邦政府的疫情对策存在问题 。 他说：“我们确实犯了很多错误 ， 前期我们失败了 ， 但我们现在正在尽力做出正确的判断 。 ”
