Focus on learning with small datasets that fit in memory, such as those from the UCI Machine Learning Repository.Learn good experimental design and make sure you ask the right questions and challenge your intuitions by testing diverse algorithms and interpreting your results through the lens of statistical hypothesis testing.Once hardware does start to matter and you really need lots of cores and a whole lot of RAM, rent it just-in-time for your carefully designed project or experiment.2. It depends on what your applications and at what level of research you are. If you\u0026#39;re solely concerned with using existing implementations/frameworks and tweaking algorithms to analyze data sets, it\u0026#39;s not so important. However, if you\u0026#39;re implementing your own algorithms, specially for warehousing and analyzing huge data sets, it\u0026#39;s important to understand computer systems, not the electronics, but the architecture and how data is accessed from the registers, memory and the disk, how the processor works, etc. It\u0026#39;s really important for algorithm optimizations
